Timothy Luisterburg - Service Manager

VX Introduction round

Some customers at VX remembered Timothy when he returned in early October to assume his new position. While his technical background helps him in his work, he values interacting with people even more. In each VX Introduction Round, we introduce a different colleague from VX. This time, we're featuring Timothy, who enjoys his work and likes traveling throughout Asia, cooking, indulging in good food, and playing indoor football.

How long have you been
working at VX?
“I've been with VX since October 1st of this year, but I've worked here before through a secondment agency. During that time, I spent one month working at the Service Desk before moving on to Support. After that assignment ended, I worked with a different company for two years before returning to VX. I'm thrilled to be back with VX, as it's a great company to work for, and I'm enjoying my new role here.”

Now I'm curious. Can you tell us something about your position and why you enjoy it?
“I‘m responsible for managing a group of customers as a Service Manager. It’s my job to
listen to their needs and requirements and work on addressing any questions or requests
they may have. To do this, I collaborate with the relevant teams or individuals within VX to
ensure everything runs smoothly. I aim to ensure that our customers feel valued and cared
for.

Although I have a technical background, I find working with people much more enjoyable.
My approach is centered around the customer's perspective. That’s why I aim to be helpful,
accessible, and available. I enjoy anticipating customer needs and staying one step ahead. I
take customers seriously and build trust, which allows us to develop long-lasting
relationships. This mindset aligns perfectly with VX's approach to business. VX is committed
to providing excellent service without being pushy or aggressive. Working at a company that
shares my values is truly rewarding.”

Why do you participate in this series, in which we introduce colleagues?
“I believe it's helpful for customers to know who I am. Some of our clients mainly communicate with my colleague Quintijn. When he's not available, they can contact me. By reading the article, they will get to know the person they are dealing with.”

Now we’re getting personal: what do you like to tell customers about who you are?
“I have a great love for traveling through Asia, especially since both my girlfriend and I have
Indonesian roots. We like to explore various countries and usually start our trips actively by
moving around and engaging in activities. However, we tend to end our holidays at a resort
where we can relax for a few days.

What I really like about Asia is the local cuisine. In addition to enjoying the food, cooking is also a hobby of mine, but it can be frustrating when the meal is consumed in just 20 minutes after hours of preparation. Apart from my interests in traveling and cooking, I am also a sports enthusiast. I love playing indoor football and cycling on my electric bicycle. Even though the older generation at VX may not consider cycling an actual sport, I still enjoy it, haha!”

Finally, your colleagues all had a lunch story. Do you have one too?
“Do you want to hear about my typical lunch routine? During my lunch break, I usually eat
some yogurt with fruit at my workplace. Most days this is in the office, as I don't have a convenient workplace at home. I try to make each lunch break different. Sometimes, I play a game of pool with colleagues. Other times, I stop by the supermarket to shop, or I go for a walk. Whatever I choose to do, I make sure it's something completely different from work. This helps me refresh my mind before getting back to work.”

How to use AI safely
at work

You've likely heard of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and may have even used it before, perhaps in the form of ChatGPT or BingChat from Microsoft. Both tools are ‘smart’ and can be used for writing and finding information. However, it's essential to exercise caution when using AI, especially for work-related purposes. In this article, you'll find tips on safely using AI tools (spoiler: use BingChat for work).
